I bought this as a blind date with a book from Costa. I don't want to be too harsh as it cost less than the coffee — although the coffee had more character development.
The premise was really interesting and I felt like the author knew his stuff about the historical context. That being said, the characters felt incredibly flat and I can't be sustained on plot alone.
I've definitely read a lot of worse books but life is too short for okay books.
