Wonderfully vivid and lyrical imagery with some real "thinkers" in the collection. It was a privilege to experience how Carol Ann Duffy has experienced love throughout the years.
That being said, I couldn't connect with Duffy's depiction of love. Earlier poems resonated more with sentiments of lust but later poems felt they lacked depth, breadth, warmth and awe. At this point it feels like I'm criticizing Duffy for not being as lucky as I to have found my person; and for that, I'm sorry. Nonetheless, I turn to poetry to feel and for a collection titled "love" this didn't scratch the surface for what I feel.
