Let the Light Pour In — Lemn Sissay

I felt the limitations of writing a rhyming poem about light once a day for 10 years imposed an unnecessary limitation on the poets creativity.
Some of the poems could have been the first stanza to something really quite insightful. Instead they were over before they had begun. Add to that the constraint that the poem follows some sort of rhyming pattern and the result, for me, was an array of shallow poems that didn't yield anything of substance.
The poems would be perfect on a cafe wall or desk calendar. Some place where you're not expecting to see a poem and the poem grounds you in the moment and into nature. Picking up to read this as a book of poem and you'll find yourself gleaning deeper insight when it is rarely there.
